Наткнулся на информацию, что оказвается, если будучи за границей мы, кандидаты наук, поименуем себя Ph.D или Dr, то можно очень хорошо попасть.
Например, в Германии запрещено пользоваться приставкой Dr., если она не из немецкого университета. За это предусмотрено наказание до 1 года тюрьмы.
Во Флориде если вы представляетесь как Ph.D. и при этом Ваша степень не подтверждена специальным агентством, то это карается сроком заключения до года.
Florida Statutes, TITLE XLVI, Chapter 817, Part I, ss. 817.567(2)
No person awarded a doctorate degree from an institution not listed in subsection (1) (естественно там не указаны наши университеты) shall claim in the state, either orally (т.е. даже если просто сказали, то см. наказание ниже) or in writing, the title “Dr.” before the person’s name or any mark, appellation, or series of letters, numbers, or words, such as, but not limited to, “Ph.D.,” “Ed.D.,” “D.N.,” or “D.Th.,” which signifies, purports, or is generally taken to signify satisfactory completion of the requirements of a doctorate degree, after the person’s name.
A person who violates the provisions of subsection (1) or subsection (2) commits a misdemeanor of the first degree, punishable as provided in s. 775.082 or s. 775.083.

(a) For a misdemeanor of the first degree, by a definite term of imprisonment not exceeding 1 year
