Textilshik, thank you for your prominent speech yet I want to express my disagreement with some of your ideas.
Firstly, Mutko presentation was really a sort of joke, but I don't want to see the official representative of my country as as clown.
Today English is a Lingua Franca, so there are more than millions of ordinary reasons to learn this language properly, especially for scientists. If someone wants to be on the verge of the newest tendencies of science and technology he has to know English. So I believe today it is a common skill to know English as well as to have driving skills, or computer skills.
I strongly disagree that the command of English can be viewed as an indicator of faith, believes or views. It is simply an instrument of an educated personality. So I can't agree with you that Russian patriots shouldn't learn English and speak it when necessary. For expample, all the brightest Russian national heros and patriots could speak foreign languages well: Pushkin, Dostoevsky, Turgenev, Tolstoy, Stolypin, doctor Pavlov, and many many other writers, scientists, government officials.
As for the Germans, I don't think they can disappear because some of the Germans can speak English, this statement is non sense.
As for English native speakers who don't speak other languages it is their own business and their indicator of education, but it is really respected in Western society to know foreign languages and many people speak them. For example both The Queen of the UK and Princes Charles speak French fluently.
Finally I respect your Russian patriotism, but I want to remind you that Russia is multi ethnic country by its nature and history, so it may be strong only when all its nations and peoples live peacefully together.
В заключении, я уважаю Ваш российский патриотизм, но хотел бы Вам напомнить, что Россия в силу истории и своей природы является многонациональной страной, и она может быть сильной только когда её народы жувут в мире и согласии друг с другом.
