Title 2 x Fee-Waiver PhD Studentships
School/Department School of Archaeology and Ancient History
Supervisors Agreed Subject to Research Project
Start Date October 2013
Entry Requirements UK/EU and International Applicants
Closing Date for Applications 31 March 2013
The School of Archaeology and Ancient History is pleased to offer two fee-waiver studentships for October 2013 entry to its Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) programme. The studentships will pay UK/EU tuition fees for three years and includes an annual conference/training allowance of £200.

Research Areas and Supervision
The Centre for Historical Archaeology, based in the School of Archaeology and Ancient History, is very pleased to be hosting the 2013 Society for Historical Archaeology Annual Conference.

To celebrate, one of these studentships will be awarded to an applicant looking to undertake doctoral research in the field of historical archaeology; the second studentship is open to applicants wishing to pursue doctoral research in any area of archaeology and ancient history that can be supervised by the School's academic staff.

Applicants should consult the School's website for details of our staff research interests in historical archaeology and other branches of archaeology and ancient history.

Entry Requirements
Applicants must have a first-class or high upper second-class honours degree (or equivalent qualification) in a relevant discipline and meet the University’s standard English language entry requirements. It is expected that applicants will have a relevant Masters degree with merit or distinction or be able to show evidence that they will achieve this before October 2013. Where applicants do not meet the academic entry requirements, consideration will be given where applicants can identify strongly relevant professional experience.

These studentships are open to suitable UK/EU and International (i.e., outside the EU) applicants. Please note though that the awards cover tuition fees at the UK/EU rate only. International applicants (and those not eligible to pay UK/EU tuition fees) must demonstrate at the time of their application that they can fund the difference in tuition fee rates.

These studentships are for full-time study only. Applicants must be able to commence their studies in October 2013 - however, applicants looking to start their degree in July 2013 will also be considered.
