Application to the Postdoc program
The BSRT seeks to attract creative young scientists from all over the world with original and innovative ideas who plan to do their first post-doc project with their own research concept within the scientific focus areas of the BSRT. The BSRT provides fellowships for postdocts to fund their projects.
BSRT Postdoc Fellowship
The fellowship will fund the salary of the post-doc for two years and provide funding for consumables of € 10,000 for their research.
DRS Postdoc Fellowship COFUND
The Dahlem Research School (DRS) has currently a call for application for postdoc fellowships. Candidates who want to join the BSRT Postdoc program can also apply for funding through the DRS Postdoc Felloship COFUND. This is a different application procedure for which you have to use other forms. Further Details can be found here.

The next application period for postdoc program will be open from 01 July to 30 September 2012 14:00 MET.
Requirements
Young researchers who have recently graduated or will soon graduate with a doctoral degree in natural or material sciences can apply. Applications which are send before the conclusion of the doctorate must provide evidence that the doctoral degree will be received before the start of the Postdoc programme.
Application
Interested candidates have to submit their application to the BSRT coordination office. The application should include
a short letter of application
copies of certificates
two reference letters
publication list
title and summary of doctoral thesis
a short draft proposal in which the planned research in the respective focus area of the BSRT is decribed and at least two BSRT faculty members should be listed who would be most suitable to support this research project.
Please use only the BSRT application form (available until the 30.09.2012).
The application should be send by e-mail as one PDF file which should be no larger than 10 MB.
Assessment
Based on the quality of their submitted draft proposals, applicants will be invited to participate in BSRT assessment center which will take place at the end of October 2012. Please make sure that you are available during this time, because we cannot organize separate interviews for you. During the assessment centre applicants will be introduced to the different research groups, sit interviews and will give a short presentation of their planned research project.
BSRT Graduates can also participate under the following conditions.
Doctoral researchers at the BSRT who are near the end of their studies can also apply to this programme. They will have to go through the same application and evaluation process as their peers from other institutions.
Doctoral researchers of the BSRT are only eligible for the kick-off grant if they submit a proposal for new research to be carried out in a different research group to the one in which they did their doctoral studies.
Doctoral researchers who wish to stay in their research group to continue their research at a post-doctoral level will be eligible to join the annual post-doc career academy but will be expected to bring with them their own third-party funding.
