PhD positions in Computer Science at Clemson University

We are looking for an outstanding candidate for a Ph.D. position in the School of Computing at Clemson University, beginning Fall 2019. The candidate will work under the supervision of Dr. Ilya Safro on quantum computing, graph algorithms and large-scale optimization. Some applications will be related to machine learning. The candidate will have a unique opportunity to collaborate with the research teams in national labs.

Both M.Sc. and B.Sc. students are considered. The ideal candidate should have a background in
• theoretical computer science, discrete mathematics, algorithms
• quantum computation
• Python, C/C++

Academic or industrial experience in the following areas is considered as an important advantage (not mandatory)
• machine learning and data mining
• HPC and parallel programming/MPI/OpenMP/Hadoop
• optimization
• probability
• scientific computing and graph/network libraries
